BUTT BUTT BUTT...THROW IT OUT!

While this blog is primarily aimed to be focused on issues concerning recyling and salvageable items for decorative or practical use, I'd like to take this entry to gripe, whine and be pissed off about something I have recently attempted to test my theory on.

Within the past few weeks I decided I would count how many cigarette butts I have seen on sidewalks, in grass or on the street throughout my days, over a week span. But this ended up being a different project than I had originally intended! In the course of merely spotting and tallying the tossed butts, I couldn't help myself to simply leave them there, noticed but polluting...so I began picking them up and throwing them away. if i was not near a trash can, I started a butt baggie and I would throw a few butts out in the baggie when a trash can was available. It is actually crazy because now it seems as though when I am traveling to class or home ALL I CAN SEE IS CIG BUTTS!

You see, I am a smoker. Therefore I do realize how INCONVENIENT it is to find an ash tray or trash can once my cigarette is out...however, if I find that I do not see a correct disposable outlet at the time, I have a little bag in my backpack that I will stash my smoked butts in until I can throw them away. IT IS REALLY NOT THAT DIFFICULT.

All these capitalized letters probably make it seem like I am yelling, however, I am just trying ti draw attention to the fact that, come on people of the world, come on.

Also, I was at work the other day, on my smoke break yep, when I was sitting on the sidewalk out front of the store. I literally got a cigarette butt FLICKED on me. It landed on my jeans. I looked up and a young boy surrounded by his friends (loitering I must add) said "oh sorry didn't see ya there." I said "oh, no problem. but wait, (picked up cig butt, stood up, walked over to the ashtray we have placed outside of the store, and placed it in) THIS is where it goes, in case you didn't know the world isn't your garbage can."

haha anyway, just a reminder to be cautious of your own smoking habits or those of others!
